Turkmenistan Introduces Fines For Knowingly False Advertising of Goods

Turkmenistan will introduce fines for knowingly false advertising starting May 1, 2026, following amendments to Article 312¹ of the Code of Administrative Offenses. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the law “On Amendments and Additions to the Code of Administrative Offenses of Turkmenistan” on April 11, 2026.

Under the revised Article 312¹, individuals, officials and legal entities acting for profit and disseminating knowingly false advertising of goods, works or services, as well as their producers, performers or sellers, through mass media or information and telecommunications networks, will face penalties if such actions cause significant damage.

According to Article 312¹, fines for spreading knowingly false advertising will range from 30 to 50 base units for individuals, 40 to 60 base units for officials, and 50 to 75 base units for legal entities.
