Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, including Turkmenistan, discussed a project to establish the Eurasiacontrol Unified Air Navigation Coordination Center, aimed at improving the efficiency of airspace use and enhancing flight coordination across the region, according to the press service of the Interstate Aviation Committee.
The issue was the main topic of the 27th meeting of the Air Navigation Coordination Commission, held at the Interstate Aviation Committee. The meeting took place June 17 in a hybrid format with the participation of representatives of aviation authorities and air navigation service providers from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as experts from Russia and the International Air Transport Association.
Participants reviewed issues related to the formation of a unified CIS air navigation space and discussed the Eurasiacontrol concept. Representatives of the participating states, including Turkmenistan, supported the relevance of the initiative, emphasizing the importance of regional and cross-border coordination in airspace planning and utilization.
According to participants, implementation of the concept would simplify flight planning for air carriers, improve the efficiency of airspace-use coordination and enable the selection of the most optimal routes.
Following the discussions, the parties agreed to conduct further analysis of the concept documents and coordinate them at the national level. An expert working group is expected to be established within the Air Navigation Coordination Commission to prepare a roadmap for the project’s implementation.
