President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum at the Expo Georgia exhibition center in Tbilisi on Thursday and visited a exhibition showcasing products made in Turkmenistan, the Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
The Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum focused on discussing practical ways to expand mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation. The event was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The exhibition covered 592 square meters and featured displays from 17 ministries and state agencies of Turkmenistan, as well as 42 private companies and entrepreneurs. It showcased a wide range of products bearing the “Made in Turkmenistan” label, including food products, textiles, chemical products and industrial goods.
The exhibition also presented equipment and spare parts for the industrial and agricultural sectors, construction materials, electronics, household goods, textiles and food products. The pavilions highlighted efforts to modernize and diversify the national economy, the priority areas of state development programs and the significance of major projects being implemented.
Separate sections of the exhibition were dedicated to achievements in the trade and food industries, products of the Ministry of Textile Industry, carpets and carpet products manufactured by enterprises of the Turkmenhaly State Association and private businesses. Visitors also viewed handicrafts by traditional artisans, national clothing and jewelry.
Following the exhibition tour, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed the opening ceremony of the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum. He said the forum would help strengthen trade, economic and investment cooperation and outlined Turkmenistan’s key economic indicators, investment potential and state support measures for the private sector.
In his remarks, President Berdimuhamedov highlighted the progress achieved in Turkmen-Georgian economic cooperation and stressed the need to develop new business-oriented partnerships. He identified transport and logistics, communications, supply systems, development of maritime terminals, transit of goods and services, industrial and agricultural cooperation, construction, agro-industrial development and tourism as promising areas for joint work. Senior representatives of several Georgian state institutions and private sector organizations also addressed the forum.
