Turkmenistan is in talks to establish its own cargo terminal on Georgia's Black Sea coast, Turkmen state media reported, citing President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's remarks at the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum in Tbilisi on Thursday.

According to Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the project would strengthen transport and logistics cooperation, including the development of supply chains, communications and maritime terminals. He called for greater private sector participation in building logistics infrastructure and using transit opportunities, adding that public-private partnerships and the business communities of both countries should play an active role in implementing the initiative.

The Turkmen President also said Ashgabat is interested in Georgia's experience in developing tourism and the services sector. He expressed confidence that the forum would deepen bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation and establish a regular dialogue between the business communities of the two countries with similar events expected to be held in both Turkmenistan and Georgia.

According to Georgia's 1TV, Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum in Tbilisi said trade turnover between the two countries increased by 26% in 2025 to exceed $100 million.
