New educational facilities and kindergartens will open in Turkmenistan as part of celebrations marking Day of Knowledge and Student Youth, Turkmen state media reported Friday.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Mammedov reported on preparations for the 2026-27 academic year during a Cabinet meeting held by video conference Friday.
According to the report, celebrations marking Day of Knowledge and Student Youth are planned in front of the Independence Monument, at the Berdimuhamet Annayev Arkadag City Pedagogical Secondary Vocational School and at Berdimuhamet Annayev Secondary School No. 27 in Yzgant, Gokdepe district.
Preparations are also underway to open 5,000-seat building complexes of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Ashgabat and the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute in Turkmenabat.
In addition, a 960-seat secondary school and a 320-seat kindergarten are planned to open in Ahal province, along with a 240-seat kindergarten in Dashoguz province and two 1,000-seat secondary schools in Lebap province.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers submitted related proposals to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for consideration.
Head of the state stressed the importance of organizing the Day of Knowledge and Student Youth celebrations at a high level. He also instructed Mammedov to prepare to present modern computers as gifts to children entering first grade at the start of the new academic year.
