The first tons of cocoons with high-quality silk thread from the new crop put into processing at the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association. This year, processing of cocoons kicked off earlier than usual, largely due to the large volume of harvested cocoons.
Farmers of the Lebap velayat reached record levels in the production of the raw material for obtaining natural silk. With contractual commitments of 960 tons, they delivered over 1,242 tons of high-quality cocoons to the Türkmenýüpek JSV of the Ministry of Textile Industry. The amount is half of the total volume of the harvested cocoons intended for the national textile industry of the country.
Turkmenabat Silk Production Association produces a wide range of silk fabrics. Natural silk products of the Turkmenabat factory has been awarded the gold medal by the International Fair Plovdiv in Bulgaria. Silk yarn and wastes of the processed cocoons are also exported to China, Russia and other countries.
