Galkynysh gas field, which is one of the largest in the world, will supply the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline with natural gas in its first phase.
During a session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan chaired by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on August 30, Deputy Prime Minister Myratgeldi Meredov made a report particularly covering the progress of the drilling of new production and exploration wells at Galkynysh.
Summarizing the report, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that one of the key aspects of the economic strategy of Turkmenistan is the efficient and rational use of the country's rich hydrocarbon resources, which are one of the largest in the world.
The Head of State instructed the deputy prime minister to pay special attention to all the issues regarding the further development of Turkmenistan's Galkynysh field, which is expected to become a source of energy for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline in its first phase.
President Berdimuhamedov also instructed to intensify work on attracting foreign investors to the industry and establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with leading companies with advanced technologies in the oil and gas sector.
Located in Mary velayat of Turkmenistan, Galkynysh is the world's second-largest gas field with an estimated volume of 26 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
