Italian investors and companies were invited to participate in the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline (TAPI) during the Turkmen-Italian business forum that took place on Wednesday in Milan.
The business forum hosted the presentation of the TAPI project. Italian businesses were acquainted with the current status of the TAPI project, including its technical, procurement, social, and financial parameters.
According to the Turkmen officials, the Turkmengaz State Concern has already laid about 100 km of pipes on the Turkmen sector of the gas pipeline. The length of the Afghan and Pakistani sectors of TAPI is 1,635 kilometers. Afghanistan will host 3 gas sampling stations and 3 such stations will be based in Pakistan.
During the presentation, the officials underlined the project’s economic benefits to the region and that Afghanistan and Pakistan would gain billions through the transit of natural gas. The TAPI project is expected to create more than 40 thousand jobs in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The 1840-kilometer TAPI gas pipeline will provide the opportunity to annually deliver 33 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas to South Asian countries.
