During the meeting at the Turkmen MFA, the parties noted the successful long-term cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UNFPA.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev held a meeting on Thursday with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Director for Turkmenistan Giullia Vallese.

During the meeting at the Turkmen MFA, the parties noted the successful long-term cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UNFPA.

The sides underlined the effectiveness of joint projects developed and implemented on the national level and exchanged views on further steps aimed at the enhancement of measures in the field of reproductive health, family planning and child development.

The interlocutors noted the significance of coordinated actions on the regional and global scale. The parties then discussed the work of Turkmenistan in the area of human rights provision, in particular the assistance to migrants and stateless people, including the issues of social protection.

Programme of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UNFPA for 2016-2020 currently regulates joint activities. In December last year, Ashgabat hosted the event on defining bilateral strategic partnership priorities for 2021-2025.
