Turkmenistan has 74 private enterprises manufacturing furniture, 10 manufacturers of detergents, 65 producers of hygienic papers and napkins, and 10 producers of construction paints.

The number of businesspeople registered in the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) has increased significantly over the past 10 years.

According to the Neýtralnyý Turkmenistan newspaper, there are 74 private enterprises in the country manufacturing furniture, 10 manufacturers of detergents, 65 producers of hygienic papers and napkins, and 10 producers of construction paints.

Turkmen businesses produce decorative and insulating materials, carpet products, car filters, pads, boilers, gas stoves, baby toys and perfumery. The private enterprises also produce polypropylene bags, plastic utensils, welding electrodes, and electronic payment devices.

As a result of privatization in the industrial sector, a number of textile mills have been acquired by the members of the UIET. These plants continue to operate and modernize without changing their business areas. The production of non-woven fabrics and socks has been established in the plants.

Turkmenstandartlary Main State Service tests all products for quality and compliance before their delivery to the market. If necessary, the UIET can carry out its own independent examination of the products.

The UIET was founded in 2008 in order to support the country's small and medium enterprises, further develop the private sector of the national economy and to create a modern business infrastructure.
