Purli Agamyradov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, overseeing the Science, Education, Health, Sports, Youth Policy and Social Affairs, briefed the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the results of activities on areas under his supervision during the video conference session of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.
After the briefing, the Head of State said the Government of Turkmenistan took timely preventive measures against the spread of coronavirus infection as soon as it became known about the outbreak of the infection in China, which in turn prevented the transmission and spread of the virus in Turkmenistan. The Head of State added that the sanitary-quarantine regulation has also been strengthened at the state border.
Along with China, flights to other countries where coronavirus has spread were also canceled. The President of Turkmenistan then instructed to continue to closely monitor the epidemiological situation in foreign countries and, if necessary, to amend the restrictive measures.
During the meeting, after the briefing of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bahargul Abdiyeva, the Head of State drew the attention of the heads of television and radio channels, and the print media to the issues of improving the quality of television and radio broadcasts, and periodicals.
The Turkmen Leader also noted the need to conduct a wide-ranging public awareness campaign on hygiene issues and measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Due to the outbreak of coronavirus infection in China and in other countries, Turkmenistan established medical supervision over its citizens arriving from other states. The country has also temporarily suspended the entry of foreign nationals.
