Over the last 25 years Turkmenistan has jointly realized with the U.S. companies 167 projects which cost nearly $3.5 billion. The projects were implemented in the fields of power industry, civil aviation, aerospace sector, agriculture and a number of other strategically vital sectors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said in a press release issued on Tuesday.

Being the customer for the works and services for the realized projects, Turkmenistan has always made the payments for the projects from its own resources, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry noted, underlining that the information which appeared in a number of international media about the American multimillion economic assistance to Turkmenistan made during the last 20 years is untrue.

The economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States is implemented on the basis of mutual benefit and equal partnership, the Turkmen MFA declared in its statement.

Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations with the United States in 1992. The Turkmenistan-U.S. Business Council, promoting commercial relations between the two countries, operates in the United States. The members of the council, which was established in 2008, include multinational corporations such as John Deere, Boeing, Oxbow, Caterpillar and General Electric.
