Turkmenistan Proposes to Establish NAM Members’ Council of Medical Scientists
The Turkmen Leader said close cooperation between professionals is of great importance in the fight against a pandemic and its consequences

During the online summit of the Non-Alignment Movement (NAM) held on Monday under the motto "United against COVID-19", President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a proposal of creating a Council of medical scientists of NAM member states.

The Turkmen Leader said close cooperation between professionals is of great importance in the fight against a pandemic and its consequences, adding that it is necessary to fully use the means of science diplomacy.

The Head of State noted that such cooperation includes a constant exchange of experience, knowledge and information on the methods of treatment and prevention of the disease, medications and equipment, and personal protective gears.

"Joint work should be carried out under the coordinating role of The United Nations and in close cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), which has a huge experience in the fight against virus diseases," said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

In this regard, the Turkmen Leader suggested the Governments of the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement to develop the forms of such joint activities.
