President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation on Tuesday.
The Presidents of the states expressed satisfaction with the invariably friendly character of the Turkmen-Russian relations, built on the principles of mutual respect, constructiveness and strategic partnership.
The two presidents exchanged greetings on the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Turkmen Leader expressed confidence that after overcoming the current difficulties caused by well-known circumstances, large celebrations will be held in Moscow in honor of the Great Victory Day.
The parties touched upon the topic of combating the coronavirus pandemic, which has become a challenge for the entire world community. The sides noted that from the first days of the outbreak of coronavirus infection, Turkmenistan and Russia have actively cooperated, demonstrating solidarity and mutual support.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked the Russian President for test systems supplied to the country and expressed readiness of Turkmenistan to provide necessary support to the Russian Federation.
Turkmen President suggested instructing the relevant government agencies of Turkmenistan and Russia to develop a joint comprehensive programme to counter the pandemic.
The Presidents also discussed priority issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
The sides noted the establishment of a ferry service between the port of Turkmenbashi and the Russian ports of Astrakhan and Makhachkala on the Caspian Sea as an example of close contacts between Turkmenistan and the regions of the Russian Federation.
