The plant for the production of iodine in the Bereket etrap of Turkmenistan’s western velayat of Balkan produces 18 types of products, Bereketli Toprak newspaper reports.
Raw materials for iodine production are obtained from the Kuren Mountain located in the etrap. The mountain is rich in various minerals and chemical elements.
The annual capacity of the plant, equipped with world class machinery, is 250 million pieces of iodine sticks, 50 million iodine pencils and 500 thousand dental tampons.
The products are supplied both to domestic and foreign markets, mainly to Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Tajikistan, the Baltic countries, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The enterprise intends to start export of its products to India in the near future.
Türkmendermansenagat’s iodine production plant, located in the Bereket etrap, was commissioned in October 2014.
