Construction of the second phase of the Lebap Cement Factory, which produces 1 million tons of cement per year, started in Koytendag etrap of Turkmenistan’s northeastern velayat of Lebap, Turkmenistan’s Golden Age news outlet reported on Tuesday.
Work is currently underway to develop technical documentation and the territory is being prepared to lay the foundations of production and auxiliary facilities of the industrial zone, which will cover an area of more than 37 hectares.
Turkmen Enjam Economic Society carries out the implementation of this important project.
The company is expected to carry out large-scale construction and installation works within 2.5 years. Turkmen Enjam was also entrusted with the adjustment of technological and auxiliary equipment, the construction of engineering systems for electricity, water, gas and sewerage, and the railway. The cement plant is scheduled to be commissioned in December 2022.
According to the report, all the raw materials needed for cement production - limestone, clay, gypsum, quartz sand are also mined within Koytendag etrap. The district includes confirmed reserves of more than 30 types of minerals and other resources.
