As part of its 10th anniversary celebration, Xiaomi revealed a transparent smart TV, the Mi TV Lux OLED Transparent Edition, according to the Chinese electronics company’s Tuesday press release.
When it’s turned off, the display looks like a piece of glass. When it’s turned on, images appear to float in thin air, Xiaomi says.
Xiaomi announced in the statement that it has become the world’s first mass producer of transparent OLED TVs.
The 55-inch transparent OLED TV has a 120Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and 150,000:1 contrast ratio.
Because of the transparent display, Xiaomi moved all the processing components of the TV to the base of the display.
The Mi TV Lux OLED will cost 49,999 yuan (about $7,200), the company noted. It goes on sale in China on August 16.
Along with the new smart TV, the Chinese electronics giant also launched its new Mi 10 Ultra and the Redmi K30 Ultra smartphones.
