CLAAS, one of the world's largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery, signed an agreement on industrial assembly with the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan, the Ministry said in a press release last week.

The Agreement was signed during the video conference. Vice-Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development Amaniyaz Yerzhanov and Regional Director for Eastern Europe and the CIS of CLAAS Group Nils Roych signed the document.

At its first stage, the project envisages the establishment of TUCANO harvester production, as well as the installation of specialized equipment and the training of technical personnel.

The project will be implemented jointly with the official representative of CLAAS in Kazakhstan, ST-Agro company. The volume of investments in the regional economy will amount to around 3.4 billion tenge, with the German company's own funds as the source of financing. The plant will create about 200 new workplaces at the initial stage.

Upon reaching the design capacity, the enterprise will produce up to 200 units of agricultural machinery, including combines, tractors and seeding complexes, per year.

The Agreement to open the plant was reached during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Germany in December 2019.

CLAAS is the flagship of the global agricultural machinery industry and the largest European manufacturer in this segment.
