The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved a $274.2 million loan to the Government of Uzbekistan for the reconstruction of a section of the A380 international highway.
According to the Tuesday press release of Representative Office of ADB in Uzbekistan, the funds will be directed to the reconstruction of a 240 kilometers of highway in the western part of Uzbekistan.
The project will also help the Ministry of Transport of the country install an intelligent transport system along a 100-km pilot section of the Tashkent–Namangan road in the western Uzbekistan
ADB has invested $1.3 billion in road and rail transport infrastructure in Uzbekistan, whose road network is vital to regional connectivity, the ADB said in the statement.
Since 2009, Uzbekistan has been constructing a national highway of the first category with a total length of 2.306 kilometers.
