China Sets Record For Gas Imports

China imported 12,252 billion cubic meters of natural gas through pipelines and in liquefied form in July 2020, according to the customs statistics of the PRC.

The figure is 13% more than in July 2019 (10.828 billion cubic meters) and 27% more than in June (9.615 billion cubic meters). The achieved figure is a record volume of imports per month for China.

In the first seven months of this year, China increased its natural gas imports by 6% up to 73.677 billion cubic meters.

China, the world's largest importer of gas, imports the fuel via pipelines from Turkmenistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Myanmar.
