The value of exports of Turkmen fertilizers in January-July of this year increased by 73.4% compared to the same period last year, Orient news outlet reported on Thursday with reference to the data of State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan.
During the seven-month period, Turkmenistan significantly increased the production of fertilizers and supplied over 700 thousand tons of products abroad. The increase in output was primarily due to the production capacity of Garabogazkarbamid plant, which was put into operation in September 2018.
According to the report, the production of mineral fertilizers in the first eight months of this year increased by 42.1% compared to the same period last year. The largest growth was in nitrogen fertilizers as their output increased by 52.3%.
Türkmenhimiýa (Turkmen Chemicals) State Concern has already exceeded the annual plan for the production of fertilizers. As of August, 4 months before the end of the year, the production plan was executed by 109.3%.
Garabogazkarbamid Plant, the large urea and ammonia plant in the city of Garabogaz in Turkmenistan’s western velayat of Balkan, is designed to produce 1,155,000 tons of urea fertilizers per year. The plant is recognized as the largest and best equipped in the region. The statistics confirm that the launch and successful operation of the gas chemical complex contributed to the transformation of Turkmenistan into a leading producer and exporter of mineral fertilizers in Central Asia.
