A video conference meeting was held on Wednesday at the Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmen Railways) Agency with the participation of the head of the representative office of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (National Railway Company of Kazakhstan) in Turkmenistan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan.
According to the TDH news agency, the meeting participants exchanged views on the promotion of existing intergovernmental agreements, and on the prospects for cooperation in the transit and transport sector.
The officials particularly considered the functioning of the transnational corridor Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan-Iran, which is an important link between Europe and Asia, and the North-South railway. The sides also agreed upon a number of joint measures for the operation of the railway.
The parties discussed the pricing policy in order to effectively use the capacity of international transit corridors, increase the volume of rail container traffic and expand their geography.
The Turkmen specialists informed about the implementation of the project for the modernization and electrification of the Turkmenbashi-Ashgabat-Mary-Turkmenabat railway section. In this regard, the parties confirmed their readiness to discuss new plans for cooperation in this direction.
