President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Malaysia Muhyiddin Yassin on Tuesday, TDH news agency reports.
During the phone talk, the Turkmen Leader and the head of the Malaysian Government expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral relations, built on the principles of mutual respect, understanding and trust.
The parties outlined further intensification of trade and economic ties as one of the main directions of Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cited interaction in the oil and gas sector as an example of effective joint efforts, where the Malaysian state-owned company Petronas is a long-standing and reliable partner of Turkmenistan.
During the telephone conversation, it was stated that in addition to the fuel and energy complex, there are many other promising areas for mutually beneficial economic partnership, building up business contacts, and implementing long-term investment projects. There are also good opportunities for cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies and digitalization of the economy, the introduction of advanced scientific developments in production, according to the interlocutors.
Exchanging views on a number of important issues of regional and global agenda, the parties focused on the coronavirus pandemic. In this regard, the sides emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts as the most important factor to counter this dangerous threat.
It was emphasized that there is a solid potential for deepening fruitful cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture, and in the field of healthcare, continuing the practice of holding joint events that contribute to strengthening the ties of friendship between the two states.
At the end of the telephone conversation, confirming the commitment of Turkmenistan and Malaysia to the further comprehensive development of constructive cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin exchanged best wishes for each other and the peoples of both countries.
