President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov delivered a video message on Friday at the International Forum on Northern Economic Cooperation held in Seoul, State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports.
The forum was gathered heads of state, prominent politicians, representatives of academia, heads of ministries and departments in the fields of trade and economics, health care, education, communications and innovative technologies, non-governmental organizations, and private circles of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia , Mongolia, Republic of Korea and many other countries.
Turkmen President noted in his video message that he considers this representative Forum as a well-timed initiative aimed at long-term development of international economic, trade and investment cooperation in Eurasia.
The Head of State shared his vision of creating new plans and strategies for comprehensive development on the Eurasian continent, adding that “in Turkmenistan we call it the revival of the Great Silk Road, thus emphasizing the historical continuity of the unique nature of relations between the nations living here and the states located along it”. It was underlined that the given format contributes to the advancement of geo-economic processes along the East-West and South-North routes.
During his speech, Turkmen Leader particularly underlined the importance of diversifying regional and international cooperation. Focusing on the effectiveness of the Turkmen-South Korean relations, the Head of State cited as an example a number of joint projects implemented with the participation of South Korean companies in the oil and gas, and petrochemical industries.
At the same time, the Turkmen Leader noted that there is great potential for joint activities in the implementation of projects in science-intensive industries, including in telecommunications and space, in the field of water use, especially desalination of sea water.
President Berdimuhamedov addressed to the businesses of South Korea with an invitation to more actively engage in the Turkmen market, confirming the readiness to provide maximum assistance to the work of Korean companies in Turkmenistan, to create favorable conditions for them.
The main topics of discussion at the Forum were the changes caused by the global pandemic and the further advancement of Northern Economic Cooperation.
