Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held online talks with the head of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Tadashi Maeda on Tuesday.
According to Turkmenistan’s Golden Age news outlet’s report, the meeting participants noted the high dynamics of the development of Turkmen-Japanese relations. The sides emphasized the active dialogue between the leaderships of the two countries in order to further strengthen interstate relations.
The officials particularly noted the trade and economic contacts and the participation of Japanese companies in the implementation of large-scale projects in Turkmenistan, including the commissioning of gas chemical complex in Kiyanly, a carbamide plant in the city of Karabogaz and a plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas in Ahal velayat.
The parties also highlighted the ongoing construction of a gas turbine power plant in the Charjev etrap of Lebap velayat with the participation of Japanese companies.
In addition to the current projects, the officials also considered the prospects for joint activities in the gas chemical, transport and agricultural sectors.
Touching upon the topic of expanding the regulatory framework for partnership, the parties noted the significance of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of infrastructure between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.
The officials held a constructive exchange of views on the future stages of the partnership. The Japanese side expressed its interest in continuing investment activities in Turkmenistan, taking into account the current realities.
