Turkmenistan exported 2.786 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China in January 2021, Russia-based Interfax news agency reported last Saturday citing data from the General Administration of Customs of China.
During the period, China imported a total of 4.685 billion cubic meters of pipeline gas, with Turkmen gas accounting nearly 60% of the supplies. Other major exporters of pipeline gas to China in January are Russia (916 million cubic meters), Myanmar (357 million cubic meters), Kazakhstan (319 million cubic meters) and Uzbekistan (307 million cubic meters).
Among the pipeline gas suppliers, Russia supplies gas to China at the lowest price – $118.5 per thousand cubic meters, according to the report. In January 2021, Turkmenistan received $187 per thousand cubic meters for its gas, Kazakhstan - $162, Uzbekistan - $151, Myanmar - $352.
Interfax noted that in January last year, China imported 4.366 billion cubic meters of pipeline gas.
In 2020, the Central Asia-China Gas Pipeline delivered over 39 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China.
