President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Wednesday got acquainted with the construction of mudflows diversion and drainage structures in the south of Ashgabat.
The total length of the mudflow canals will be around 52 kilometers, the country’s official media reports. These mudflow canals will be connected with the canals at the north to the Karakum River. Mudflow and sediment waters along a single channel will flow into the channel leading towards the Turkmen Lake Altyn Asyr.
Russian construction company Vozrozhdenie carries out the construction of the complex and the improvement of the adjacent territory. Presently, 900 equipment are involved in construction works, 100 of which belong to the party carrying out the construction, and 800 to private businesses in the country, according to the report.
At the site, the Vice-Pemier Shamuhammet Durdyliyev reported that large-volume reservoirs will be built along the mudflow channels, designed for crushing impurities, filtering and obtaining clean water.
The Head of State noted that work should be continued to expand water canals, increase their flaw capacity, as well as to build the necessary drainage systems to regulate the flow of water, water facilities and bridges, and instructed to thoughtfully apply the achievements of world practice and scientifically based methods in the construction of such important structures.
