Turkmen Investment Forum Considers Local Production of Railway Spare Parts
Proposals on the local production of spare parts for diesel locomotives, freight and passenger railcars, and railways were considered during the event.

Investment Forum of Turkmenistan’s transport and communications complex kicked off on Thursday at the headquarters of the Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmen Railways) Agency in Ashgabat. During the event, the specialists of the complex presented information on the types and volumes of spare parts and materials, as well as on the provision of transport services.

The forum was attended by domestic producers and entrepreneurs, and specialists of the country's transport and communications complex, the country’s official media reports.

Proposals on the local production of spare parts for diesel locomotives, freight and passenger railcars, and railways were considered during the event.

The forum participants also discussed the construction and modernization of freight yards located along the rail lines, the installation of railcar scales, maintenance of electric motors of diesel locomotives, as well as attracting investments in order to assemble new railcars, purchase freight containers.

Specialists of the Türkmendemirýollary, Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Motor Transport), Türkmenhowaýollary (Turkmen Airlines), Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime Transport) agencies held presentations on such topics as the provision of modern services to passengers, modernization and establishment of the internet services in passenger railcars, the creation of their own structures for the production of spare parts and materials for the production of sub-departmental carriages.

The emphasis was placed on the operational condition of aircraft, maritime equipment and machinery, issues of providing internet services to passengers, and on the activities of the Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Plant Open Joint Stock Company and the possibilities of establishing the production of cargo containers.

The forum participants also considered a proposal on the development of a new domestic application for the provision of electronic services, similar to Uber Freight. A proposed to establish a motor transport enterprise in Ahal velayat in order to implement the Taxi Services project was also made during the forum.
