New Fertilizer Transshipment Terminal Opens in Georgia's Batumi Port
The new terminal is able to process and transport 1.5 million tons of mineral fertilizers a year.

A multimodal terminal for the transshipment of mineral fertilizers opened in Georgia’s Batumi port, the country’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported last week.

In her opening speech, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava said the cargo from Central Asia will arrive in Batumi via Azerbaijan and then transported to the United States, Europe, Africa, Australia.

At the same time, Turnava stressed that the demand for mineral fertilizers all over the world is growing in parallel with the increase in the production of agricultural products and food products.

The new terminal is able to process and transport 1.5 million tons of mineral fertilizers a year.

The investors of the new multimodal terminal in Batumi port are the American corporation Trammo and the Wondernet Express Investment Group. The total investment to the project amounted to $25 million.

Last week, the construction of a fertilizer terminal with a capacity to handle 2.5 million tons annually started in Azerbaijan’s Port of Baku.
