Georgia Imports 122.6 Thousand Tons of Turkmen Gasoline, Diesel Fuel
The largest volume of gasoline and diesel fuel imports came from Romania.

Georgia imported 122.6 thousand tons of gasoline and diesel fuel, which is 23% of total imports, from Turkmenistan in January-June period of this year, the Union of Oil Product Importers of Georgia reported on Friday.

“Turkmenistan has become one of the major suppliers of fuel this year,” the Union of Oil Product Importers of Georgia said in the statement, adding that diesel fuel and A-91 regular type gasoline are imported from Turkmenistan.

In the first half of 2021, Georgia’s imports of gasoline and diesel fuel amounted to 532.3 thousand tons, which is 34.4 thousand tons or 6.9% more compared to the same period last year and 38 thousand tons or 7.7% more compared to the same period in 2019 before the pandemic.

The Union added that one of the main reasons behind the increase of the imports is that the economy is recovering faster than expected this year.

The largest volume of gasoline and diesel fuel imports came from Romania – 124.3 thousand tons, which is 23.4% of total imports.

Other exporters of gasoline and diesel fuel to Georgia are Russia (109.7 thousand tons), Azerbaijan (94.2 thousand tons), Bulgaria (57.4 thousand tons), Greece (11.1 thousand tons), Turkey (8.1 thousand tons), and Kazakhstan (2.5 thousand tons), according to the report.

Last year, Georgia for the first time imported A-91 brand gasoline from Turkmenistan.
