Turkmenistan Joins Consultations on Afghanistan in Moscow
The Turkmen side expressed the relevance of intensifying bilateral and multilateral contacts with the Afghan side.

The Turkmen delegation participated in Moscow format consultations on Afghanistan held in Russian capital on Wedesday. The talks gathered representatives of more than 10 countries, including a delegation from the Afghan government.

During the talks, the Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev, the Turkmen foreign policy agency said in its press release.

The meeting participants considered topical issues related to consolidating the efforts of the international community to prevent the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, and ensuring inclusive development conditions in the country.

In his speech, the Head of the Turkmen delegation said regular meetings in such formats contribute to the development of new approaches and consolidated decisions aimed at ensuring stability on Afghan soil and beyond.

The Turkmen side expressed the relevance of intensifying bilateral and multilateral contacts with the Afghan side for discussion, exchange of views and, ultimately, urgent solutions to pressing issues of interaction.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the possibilities of developing a mutually acceptable approach to cooperation with international organizations and financial institutions for their participation in the implementation of trans-Afghan energy, transport and industrial corridors, according to the statement.

Vepa Hajiyev said Turkmenistan, as a neighboring state, is deeply interested in the political stability and security of Afghanistan, the well-being and unity of the Afghan people, the resolution of conflicts by peaceful, political and diplomatic means.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in his video address to the 76th UN General Assembly late September said the new realities in Afghanistan require an approach free of ideological preferences, old grudges, phobias and stereotypes.
