The State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan (SCRMET) registered 23.37 billion manats worth of export-import contracts in January-October 2021, the Chairman of the exchange Begench Chariyev briefed the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a meeting on Thursday focused on the state of affairs in the country’s trade complex.
Export contracts accounted for 23.8%, while import contracts accounted for 76.2% of the total amount, the SCRMET Chairman added.
Chariyev informed the Turkmen state exchange hosted 248 exchange sessions during the ten-month period, which resulted in 2,048 transactions, the country’s official media reports.
In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, the state exchange introduced a digital document management system. Charyev also briefed on the announcement of the international tender in order to register agreements in digital format, conduct digital exchange trading, technical development and implementation of a digital system.
Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of modernizing the activities of the SCRMET, as the main body regulating export-import operations in the country.
On Monday, 1,400 tons of different polypropylene (PP) grades were put up for export sales at the Turkmen state exchange. Demand for the PP was strong, with the all PP put up for auction were sold out during one trading day.
