Export of Turkmen Apples to Russia Surges 30%
Besides Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Iran also increased their supply of apples to Russia in the summer season.

Turkmenistan from May to July of 2021 exported 507 tons of early apples to Russia, a year-on-year increase of 30%, the analytical platform EastFruit reported on Monday.

Besides Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Iran also increased their supply of apples to Russia in the summer season, while the supply of Uzbek fruits saw a decrease, according to the report.

During the period, Uzbekistan exported 1,600 tons of early apples to the Russian market – almost three times less than in the same period of 2020.

The export of Tajikistan’s apples to Russia for the first time exceeded 100-ton mark, reaching 116 tons, due to the rising fruit production in the country and the active expansion of areas under intensive and semi-intensive apple orchards. The volume of exports increased by 26% over the year.

During the period, Iran has become Russia’s largest supplier of apples. The country supplied apple’s early and winter varieties of the 2020 harvest from storage. Accordingly, from May to July 2021, Iran increased the export of apples to Russia 3 times to 6.9 thousand tons.

According to the EastFruit’s earlier report, Turkmenistan in the first eight months of 2021 exported 32 thousand tons of greenhouse tomatoes to Russia, which is almost double, or 92% more, compared to the same period last year.
