The industrial development of newly discovered gas fields in Turkmenistan resulted in the increase of the country's natural gas resources by 126 billion cubic meters, President of Turkmenistan announced during the meeting with the management of the country’s oil and gas complex at the Malay deposit on Tuesday.
The meeting held within the framework of the Turkmen President’s working visit to the country’s Lebap velayat was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Government Shahym Abdyrahmanov, overseeing the country's oil and gas industry, the heads of oil and gas industry departments, the relevant departments of the fuel and energy complex of the Mary velayat and the Khyakim (Governor) of the velayat.
During the meeting, Abdrakhmanov reported on the work carried out within the framework of the implementation of the Program for the Development of the Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan until 2030.
The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the country's fuel and energy sector faces three key tasks, namely the industrialization of the oil and gas sector, supplying domestic consumers with fuel products and increasing the export potential of the industry.
The Director of the Natural Gas Research Institute of the Türkmengaz (Turkmen Gas) State Concern and the Chairman of the Türkmengeologiýa (Turkmen Geology) State Corporation also briefed on the activities carried out under their supervision.
In this regard, the Turkmen President emphasized the need to introduce the achievements of modern science in this area, to develop international cooperation, addressing specific instructions to the relevant officials.
The day before, the Turkmen Leader paid a working visit to Mary velayat and inspected the progress of works at Galkynysh field, one of the world's largest gas fields.
