The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is launching a new five-year program aimed at improving trade interaction in Central Asia, the press service of the organization announced on Wednesday.

The program with a $19 million budget will cover all five Central Asian countries – Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The goal of the project is to expand economic opportunities in the region through harmonization of customs and border control procedures, strengthening the interaction between the private and public sectors in matters of investment and trade, expanding cross-border cooperation between commercial enterprises in the region.

In January, the USAID marked the successful completion of its five-year Central Asian Competitiveness, Trade, and Jobs activity project.
