Turkmenistan to Provide Tariff Benefits, Simplify Customs Operations For Iran
Taking into account the potential of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway, the Turkmen side proposed to establish an Intergovernmental Commission on Transport between the countries.

Turkmenistan is ready to work with partners to provide tariff benefits and simplify customs operations, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said during a meeting with President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi with the participation of government delegations in Tehran on Wednesday.

Stating the importance of addressing a number of specific issues to form the Caspian transport system, functioning at full capacity, Serdar Berdimuhamedov voiced the Turkmen side’s readiness to facilitate establishment of productive contacts between national operators, the official Turkmen media reports.

President Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan considers Iran as one of the main partners in transport as the shortest route to the ports of the Persian Gulf opens from Turkmenistan through Iran by the North-South railroad. In order to intensify the ongoing work in this area, taking into account the potential of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway, the Turkmen side proposed to establish an Intergovernmental Commission on Transport between the two countries.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov also invited the President of Iran to to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan.
