Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan Look to Jointly Build Wheat Elevator in Mary
The elevator is expected to be constructed at Chemenabat settlement in Mary province’s Serkhetabat district bordering Afghanistan.

Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan intend to jointly build an elevator for storage of 100 thousand tons of wheat in Turkmenistan’s southeastern province of Mary.

Annageldy Yazmyradov, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government in charge of the agro-industrial complex, announced the plans on the elevator’s construction during the online working meeting hosted by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday.

The Vice-Premier particularly reported on activities to establish cooperation on the shipment of wheat and flour from Kazakhstan to Afghanistan and through it to other countries, the country’s official media reports.

The countries also intend to jointly build a workshop for the manufacture of relevant packaging bags. These facilities are expected to be constructed at Chemenabat settlement in Mary province’s Serkhetabat district bordering Afghanistan. This work is expected to be carried out with shared participation, according to Yazmyradov.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that this would promote the development of relations between the countries of the region, including the economic recovery of Afghanistan, and instructed a detailed study of the proposal.

The working meeting focused on the progress of seasonal field work in the country, and issues of socio-economic development of provinces. It was also attended by provincial governors.
