The first Russian India-bound cargo train has entered Iran on Tuesday through its Sarakhs border crossing on the border with Turkmenistan, the IRNA news agency reports.
Carrying 39 containers, the Russian transit train left Chekhov station last week, and traveled 3,800 kilometers through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to enter Iran.
The cargo will then be transported to Bandar Abbas port in southern Iran through a 1600-km rail route to be later shipped to India’s Nhava Sheva Port by sea.
The estimated travel time of this Russia-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran-India train is 35-37 days, and the length of the route exceeds eight thousand kilometers.
