Turkmen President Offers Condolences to Armenia Over Deadly Market Blast
Armenia has declared on Wednesday a two-day national mourning period for the victims of the Surmalu Shopping Center blast.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences to President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan over the human casualties and injuries caused by the explosion at the Surmalu Shopping Center in Yerevan.

On behalf of the people and Government of the country and on his own behalf, the President of Turkmenistan conveyed the words of sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims at this difficult moment and also wished a speedy recovery to the injured, the official Turkmen media reported on Wednesday.

An explosion and fire in the three-storey Surmalu Shopping Center took place on Sunday. Armenian authorities said on Wednesday that sixteen people were killed and two people are still missing.

According to the latest investigations, the blast occurred when a warehouse where fireworks were stored blew up.
