Turkmenistan on Monday morning delivered a humanitarian aid to Pakistan to help victims of deadly flooding.
The Turkmen cargo aircraft Il-76 with humanitarian assistance landed at the airport in Karachi in Pakistan’s Sindh province, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said in its press release.
The delivery was carried out in accordance with the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The cargo consisted of 40,5 tons of relief goods, including textile items, clothing, blankets, food products, clean drinking water, medicines and medical supplies, according to the Pakistani media.
The ceremony of receiving humanitarian aid from Turkmenistan at the airport of Karachi was attended by Haji Rasool Bax Chandio, Special Assistant and Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh province for Relief and Rehabilitation, Waseem Ahmed, Deputy Director of Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the media of Pakistan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Pakistani officials expressed their gratitude to the leadership and people of Turkmenistan for the timely and much-needed humanitarian assistance to the flood-stricken population of the country.
The Pakistani officials announced on Monday that deaths from widespread flooding in Pakistan topped 1.3 thousand and the total number of people injured exceeded 12.7 thousand.
