Turkmen President Meets Iranian Petroleum Minister, Discusses Energy Ties
The meeting was held within the framework of Owji’s official visit to Turkmenistan.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Minister of Petroleum of Iran Javad Owji in a meeting in Ashgabat on Wednesday discussed important directions of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation in the fuel-energy sector.

The meeting was held within the framework of Owji’s official visit to Turkmenistan, the official Turkmen media reports.

Javad Owji expressed gratitude for the time to meet and the opportunity to discuss in person current issues of interstate cooperation in the oil-gas sector. He conveyed greetings to the Turkmen President from President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and wished him peace, happiness and prosperity.

Thanking for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended his best wishes to the Iranian leadership. During the meeting, it was also noted that the two neighboring countries with vast resource and economic potential, intend to further enhance the traditional cooperation on the principles of equality and mutual benefit.

Highly appreciating the energy policy pursued by the Head of Turkmenistan and the large-scale projects consistently implemented in its framework to put the country's rich resource potential at the service of the global community, Iranian Petroleum Minister expressed deep interest and readiness of the neighboring country to deepen productive trade-economic relations, as well as cooperation in transport, communications, construction and agricultural sectors that contribute to sustainable economic growth of the country.

At the end of the meeting, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Iranian Petroleum Minister Javad Owji expressed confidence in further progressive development of the traditional bilateral cooperation that has gained new momentum and content in recent years.
