The International Scientific Conference "Achievements in Crop Seed Production and Future Challenges" has opened in Ashgabat.
The two-day forum, held at the Ýyldyz hotel, gathered representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, research and production centers from the Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and other countries, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
During the forum, guests visited an exhibition at the International Scientific and Technological Park of the Turkmenistan Academy of Sciences. Such events consistently attract global business circles, offering opportunities to strengthen trade and economic relations with Turkmenistan, which is experiencing growth and rapid development in many sectors, including agriculture, thanks to reforms led by the President.
This exhibition vividly showcases the achievements of Turkmen farmers, introduces the potential of the domestic agro-industrial complex, and features advanced equipment from world-renowned companies ready to offer technological innovations for enhancing the production of high-quality import-substituting and export-oriented agricultural products.
The exhibition also provides insights into the genetic resources of major crops, the potential of domestic seed production, and samples of promising wheat varieties developed by Turkmen breeders that are well-suited to local soil and climate conditions.
During the official opening ceremony of the International Scientific Conference, a greeting message from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was read, emphasizing that “In the era of the Renaissance of the new epoch of a powerful state, significant efforts are being made for the comprehensive development of agronomy. Domestic scientists and specialists working in agriculture are developing new high-yield crop varieties, taking into account the soil and climatic factors of each region of our country. These are subsequently widely implemented in production.”
Priority topics for experience exchange include the cultivation and development of high-yielding varieties of wheat, potatoes, and other crops, as well as incorporating global expertise in these areas, which has been identified by the President as a key task for Turkmenistan's agro-industrial complex.
