Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium Sapar Palvanov met with Belgium’s Minister of State, former President of the European Council and former Prime Minister Charles Michel at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Brussels.
The sides discussed cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union as well as prospects for developing bilateral relations with Belgium, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium said Monday.
They noted that Turkmenistan has significant potential to expand cooperation with European partners in various areas and stressed the importance of further strengthening the legal and institutional framework of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
Ambassador Palvanov highlighted Charles Michel’s contribution to strengthening engagement between the European Union and Central Asian countries, noting his role in drawing greater EU attention to the region and promoting cooperation, including in transport connectivity.
Particular attention was given to Turkmenistan’s role as a stable and reliable partner contributing to peace, security and sustainable development in the region.
Charles Michel and his spouse, Amélie Derbaudrenghien, also viewed an exhibition at the embassy featuring elements of Turkmenistan’s cultural heritage.
