Expo 2020 Dubai themed "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future" opened on Thursday with a ceremony of fireworks and music.
Participants from 192 countries have converged on Dubai for the global event, which is being held for the first time in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, the UAE’s official media reports.
The opening ceremony was attended by Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and other state officials.
President of Turkmenistan in his message sent to the opening ceremony participants congratulated with the start of the World Expo 2020 and wished “the organizers and participants of this exposition, grand in scale and significance, great success!”
Focusing on the theme of the Expo 2020 Dubai, the Turkmen Leader said the Exhibition will become a platform for putting forward concrete proposals, which will stir great interest and, contributing to the coordination of actions in the near future, will significantly strengthen the constructive dialogue between the states, as well as global cooperation, according to the message published by Turkmen official media.
The Turkmen national pavilion opened at the Expo 2020 under the theme “Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust”, the Head of State said, adding that it is assigned a significant role in highlighting the historical path of development of the country and the standard of living of the people, as well as in raising the image of progressiveness and reliability of the Turkmen state with colossal industrial and intellectual potential.
Dubai, the region's tourism, trade and business hub, expects to boost its economy by attracting 25 million business and tourist visits to the world fair, which has been built from scratch on 4.3 square kilometer area.
