Turkmen President Arrives in Uzbekistan For Two-Day Visit

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Monday arrived in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent for a two-day official visit.

At the Islam Karimov International Airport, the President Berdimuhamedov was greeted by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, accompanied by the head of the Uzbek state, then visited Mustakillik (Independence) Square and laid flowers to the Monument of Independence and Humanism.

The high-level talks between the Heads of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are scheduled for Tuesday. Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev are expected to concretize the approaches of the sides to further building mutually beneficial cooperation, creating opportunities for the realization of the existing potential.

Within framework of the official visit of President Berdimuhamedov to the country, the Uzbek-Turkmen Economic Forum was held in Tashkent on Monday. During the forum, members of the delegations of the countries signed 13 bilateral documents, including for the implementation of export-import operations for about $13.5 million.

Numerous bilateral meetings with the participation of heads of ministries and departments, representatives of state and private structures also took place on the sidelines of the forum.
