Turkmen Delegation Explores Opening Turkmenistan Trading House in Japan
Meeting of the Turkmen delegation with Chief Executive Officer of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Norihiko Ishiguro, 22-23 January 2024, Tokyo, Japan.

A Turkmen delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov engaged in discussions with Norihiko Ishiguro, the Chief Executive Director of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). The meeting was held as a part of a business visit to Tokyo on January 22-23, 2024. The agenda of the meeting was centered around the prospects of establishing a Turkmenistan Trading House in Japan.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the meeting also involved considerations for opening a JETRO office in Turkmenistan. Both parties expressed their intent to organize a business forum, featuring JETRO participation, in the first half of the year.

Additionally, the Turkmenistan delegation met with Atsuo Kuroda, the Chairman and Executive Director of Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI). The negotiations focused on exploring innovative forms of cooperation in the investment sectors, including the potential involvement of various financial institutions to fund priority projects in Turkmenistan.

On January 23 of the current year, as part of the working visit to Tokyo, Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, held a meeting with Yoko Kamikawa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The discussions centered on the significance of organizing a meeting between the heads of the two states within the current year.
