IRENA Set to Establish Office in Turkmenistan

Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the World Government Summit, engaged in discussions with Gauri Singh, Deputy Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The talks centered around the prospect of opening a national IRENA office in Turkmenistan, as reported by the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan on Tuesday.

According to the Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting Turkmenistan's engagement in renewable energy development, the meeting underscored the collaboration with UNDP, UNIDO, and UNEP in this field.

IRENA, established in 2009 as a multi-governmental international organization, is dedicated to promoting all forms of renewable energy. It serves as a resource hub, providing access to essential information on renewable energy sources, including technical data. Originating from the German government's initiative and founded in Bonn on January 26, 2009, IRENA aims to accelerate the global adoption of renewable energy sources while facilitating knowledge and technology dissemination in this domain.

On the same day, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov also held discussions with Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies of the United Arab Emirates and Director General of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
