The Turkmen delegation engaged in negotiations on Tuesday at the U.S. State Department with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asia, Ambassador John Pomersheim, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service reported on Wednesday.
Discussions encompassed key aspects of bilateral relations in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Emphasis was placed on the progressive dynamics of cooperation in 2023.
The high-level political consultations between Turkmenistan and the United States, focusing on mutually interesting issues and coordinating joint actions for bilateral development, were highly appreciated. Organizational matters for upcoming political consultations in 2024 were also addressed at the meeting.
The Turkmen delegation also met with the U.S. State Department's Coordinator for the C5+1 Secretariat, K. Setola, who praised Turkmenistan's efforts in formulating an action plan for the mutually beneficial partnership between the United States and the Central Asian region.
In this context, diplomats positively evaluated the activities of the C5+1 working groups on security, economy, energy, and the environment, creating avenues for exploring new approaches and ideas to expand cooperation.
On February 12, 2024, the Turkmen delegation also held discussions with the leadership of the Turkmenistan-U.S. Business Council.
