Turkmenistan’s National railway carrier Demirýollary initiates a project to broaden its geographical reach, extending from neighboring countries to Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan through the Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan and Georgia-Azerbaijan-Caspian Sea-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan routes, as well as from Russia to the Persian Gulf countries and India.

As reported by the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Tuesday, the project aims to establish scheduled international freight transportation, opening routes along major transit corridors.

The implementation of this project will optimize logistics and reduce delivery times for North-South and East-West directions through regular trains following a precise schedule.

This project became feasible with the modernization of the locomotive fleet along the entire route. After extensive reconstruction and upgrading of rolling stock, modern high-power freight locomotives have been introduced into operation.

Experts highlight several key advantages of this service: predictable cargo delivery speed within 2-4 days, strict adherence to schedules and deadlines, attractive transportation costs, and the environmental friendliness of railway transport.

The National railway carrier Demirýollary, in collaboration with the postal company Türkmenpoçta, has launched an automated system for managing freight transportation.
