Turkmenistan and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) are planning to implement 37 projects in 2024, announced Rashid Meredov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during a recent government meeting on Friday.
According to the official Turkmen media, the Vice Premier reported to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the preparations for the visit of the OSCE Secretary-General to the country scheduled for March of this year. Meredov also briefed on the preparations for the high-level meeting of the heads of environmental ministries of Central Asian states, scheduled to take place in Ashgabat as part of this visit.
As reported, the OSCE Center has been operating permanently in the capital of Turkmenistan since 1999. Over the past 25 years, more than 500 projects in various fields have been successfully implemented within the framework of joint plans.
In the political sphere, the implementation of several projects is planned, aiming to strengthen peace and security, develop preventive diplomacy, and counter contemporary challenges and threats. In the humanitarian sphere, a number of projects are also slated for implementation, noted the Vice Premier.
Summing up the report, the Head of State acknowledged that the prepared plan, focused on further effective cooperation with the OSCE, covers political, economic, environmental, and humanitarian spheres. In this regard, he instructed the Vice Premier and the Foreign Minister to continue systematic work on developing constructive cooperation with the organization.
During the government meeting, current issues of the country's socio-economic development and projects for several documents were discussed.
